"The way I see it isn't necessarily the way you see it....Or the way it is or ought to be...What's more important is that we're all looking for it and a way to see it."
-Desi Di Nardo (author & poet)
I saw it as the stairway to heaven. The ladder leads to the light. As the path we travel is not always straight, there are twists and turns along the way, but eventually the path we travel leads us to heaven or a higher level of spirituality. It could also symbolize that in the beginning of our life, the choices are broad, and as we age, the path or choices gets narrower, until we die. Sarah Fakouri
This symbolizes that at the start of life (bottom of the ladder) we have a lot of room in either direction to move. As we ascend the ladder or go through life, our choices are narrowed and start to move in a more specific direction. It also symbolizes that at the end of the ladder, or the end of our lives, we are basically where we have chosen to be with little room to maneuver.
I saw it completely differently than the others who have posted here. I saw it as the ladder of success. Sometimes it's wobbly and you don't think you can go any further but then you can see the light at the end =) Amber DeVore
Amber...this is what I love about expressing our interpretations of art; they can all be different and right! I like the "wobbly, can't go any further" analogy. Success can only be reached if we keep climbing right? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I look at it the opposite way....I think life starts off very small coming in to the light and you have little choice but to try and do it....as you go through life you learn and grow....making mistakes and learning from it.....until one day you hit the floor running and take off in whatever direction you want. It's the tree of knowledge and development. You are remembered for what you do or have done and that opportunity gets bigger every day, not smaller, because you learn every day...experience every day....and one day you hope to center that on the things you love not just need.

Nice Jim...this is my favorite part of your post:
