As a part of the USA Arts & Archaeology Day for the summer program of the Poarch Band of Creek Indian students, future teachers in the College of Education engaged over 100 kindergarteners through sixth-graders in the art and science of Gyotaku.

Michael Albert Inspired Collage

"Albert has been creating ART since his college days at New York University, where he studied business. His art has evolved from doodles and Pen & Ink, to serious wax oil drawings,  to the cubist mosaic Cereal box collages he has become known for. In the past several years he has been creating large scale "Epic" collage works on various themes including historical, biblical, literary, musical, lyrical, botanical, mathematical & geographical....."

How to be an Explorer of the World

High school, middle school, and college students have spent time journaling this summer, using one of my favorite books, How to be an Explorer of the World: Portable Art Life Museum, as inspiration.

I have previously blogged about this resource and you will find some ideas there.

A Symmetry Study: Radial and Notan Designs

Future teachers at the University of South Alabama, taking Arts in the Elementary School, experimented with elements of art, radial symmetry, bilateral symmetry, positive and negative space to create these interesting designs.
