Daniel Pink's "Drive": Can We Apply this to Education? Leadership?

"Pay people enough so they are not thinking about money and they are thinking about the work."
Once you do that, it turns out there are three factors which lead to better performance and personal satisfaction: AUTONOMY, MASTERY, and PURPOSE.
What do you think about Pink's ideas?
Implications for education?

Dr. Baggett,
I'm following your blog as an assignment for Dr. Strange's class I'll be summarizing my comments on your post at the end of June on my my blog
The video you posted brought up some good questions about how to motivate students. I think the best thing to do is to remember every student is different and will respond to different types of motivation.
I'm looking forward to reading more of your posts!

Awesome Tyler and good timing. I just recommitted myself to blogging at least every other day...we'll see how that goes :-) Thanks for commenting. I agree with the diversity among students and potential motivators.
